"J.O. Crocker, farmer, Section 15, P.O. Eldridge, was born in Orange County, Vt., in 1820; son of James D. and Acsah Ladd Crocker. Was married, seven children, Ellen M., W.H., J.H., C.O., N.M., and J.D. Crocker. He came to Kansas in 1877 and located on the farm he now resides. He owns 240 acres of land; engaged in farming and stock raising; was elected Trustee of Union Township in 1877, and has been re-elected every year from that time. He was in Vermont State Militia from 1841 to 1844." History of Kansas, page 1417, Pub. 1883.
"James O. Crocker, was a Citizen of Union Township, where he was a leader among men. He was a resident there fom 1877 until his death, July 31, 1885. Mr. Crocker was born in Thetford, Orange Co., Vt., May 16, 1820. In early manhood he went to Illinois and purchased land in Grundy County, and resided there some years, when he returned to his native state, and took unto himself a wife in the person of Miss Sarah M. Mason. She was born in Woodstock, Conn., May 23, 1825, and was a daughter of Leonard and Sally (Morse) Mason; the latter was first cousin to Samuel F.B. Morse, inventor of the electric telegraph. Leonard Mason was born in 1825, leaving five children, of whom Mrs. Crocker is the youngest and sole survivor. Mr. Crocker spent 40 year in LaSalle County, Ill. Unto him and his wife were born seven children, namely: Ellen M., William H., John H., Herbert L., Charles O., N. Jane (deceased) and James D." "in 1871 his son William Henry Crocker with others from Illinois went to Sedgwick Co., Kansas, near his son William Henry Crocker, where he settled on Section 15, Union Township, P.O. Eldridge. Here he acquired 240 acres and engaged in Farming and live stock raising. James Otis was elected trustee of Union Township in 1877 and held this office for a number of years. He was in the Vermont State Militia from 1841 to 1844."
