Charles Crocker was elected Capt. of a small band, who got the gold fever and made the great trek to the west in 49. For some 2 year they tried their luck at gold mining, but decided that money could be mad with more ease and certainty in business. The Crocker First National Bank was started by Charles Crocker. His son Wm. Henry Crocker carried on as president until his death in 1937, and the bank is now under the presidency of Wm. Willard Crocker (Yale 1915), son of William Henry Crocker."
