He served in the Revolutionary army as follows: Corporal, Captain John Black's company, Colonel Jonathan Brewer's regiment; muster roll dated August i, 1775; enlisted April 20, 1755; service three months thirteen days: residence, Hutchinson (now Barre). Also, same company and regiment; company return (probably October, 1775); also, order for bounty coat or its equivalent in money due for the eight months service in 1775, dated in camp Prospect Hill, October 26, 1775, payable to Lieutenant John Patrick. Also, petition signed by said Nye and others belonging to Captain Black's company. Colonel Brewer's regiment, asking for allowances for articles lost in battle at Bunker Hill, June 17, 1775, said Nye claimed compensation for loss of one great coat ; amounts allowed by resolve of May 10, 1776. Also Sergeant, Captain Ephraim Stockwell's company, Colonel Job Cushing's regiment ; enlisted July 28, 1777; discharged August 29, 1777; service one month seven days, five days travel included ; company marched to Bennington to reinforce army under General Stark. Also, Captain Benjamin Nye's company. Enlisted September 26, 1777; discharged October 18, 1777; service twenty-nine days, including travel home, company marched under command of Major Jonas Wilder to reinforce Northern army for thirty days ; residence Barre.
