Note

John Howland Crocker, 82, a former grocer and long-tine resident
of Barnstable, died Wednesday at the Cape Regency Nursing &
Rehabilitation Center in Centerville. He was the husband of
Mary E (Hinckley) Crocker.

John Howland Crocker was born in Barnstable and educated in
Barnstable schools. He graduated from Barnstable High School
attended New England University. He worked for Swift & Co in
and
New Bedford and Pall River area for several years e He then owned
and operated J. H. Crocker & Sons Grocery Store in West Barn %
stable from 1952 to 1963 and worked at Coleman's Package Store
in Hyannis from 1964 until retiring in 19800
Mr Crocker was a past member of the Barnstable Fire
Department where he served as a call fireman for many years
and Worked his way up to become an officer in the rescue squad,
He decorated veterans' graves in the Town of Barnstable with
flowers and flags for many years.
Surviving besides his wife are four sons, William L Crocker
of Marstons Mills, David H Crocker of Mashpee, Alfred Crocker of
Centerville, and Richard S Crocker of South Sandwich, and a
daughter, Constance Jalicki of Yarmouth, twelve grandchildren
four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
