Note

for some reason he is not mentioned among those who took the oath of allegiance in 1678, nor among the taxpayers in 1688; but he received a deed of a house and land in Newbury from Richard Pettingell July 14, 1695. Nathaniel Pettingell, husbandman, with his wife Hannah, sold land adjoining that of Matthew and Samuel to Richard Brown May 29, 1711. Bought of Thomas Brown land near the common June 8, 1715.

Note

In his will he gave his property to his wife Hannah and his children, Richard, Benjamin, Humphrey, Joseph, and Elizabeth. Elizabeth, single, bequeathed her property to her mother and brother Benjamin Dec. 10, 1736; she died a few days after. Hannah was made guardian of her sons, Humphrey and Benjamin, July 16, 1727.
