Notes
Note
Glyndon Harry Crocker Sr: After a general education in public schools of Berlin Heights OH Glyndon attended business school in Norwalk OH. Then after leaving home as a youth he began a career in Chicago with Marshall Field & Company. Two years later he was employed by Warner Brothers Co, a corset manufacturer, where he worked ten years. After moving to Cortland NY in 1915, however, he joined the Miller Corset Company as vice president and sales manager and became a prominent figure in the business world.
In 1920, after negotiating with JC Penney Co in NYC a major order which the Miller Company felt was much too large for them to handle, Glyndon organized what would become the Crescent Corset company, one of the country's largest producers of women's wearing apparel. He served as president and general manager until his death in 1945. As a member of the board of directors of JC Penny Co and the First National Bank of Cortland, he earned the respect of all who knew him.
