| Narrative |
After Andrew Johnson's rescue from a shipwreck off Cape Cod, he lived in Osterville. During the Civil War he served in the navy. Upon discharge Andrew found employment with Brown & Sharp Mfg Co in Providence, tool and die manufacturers. Over the 53 years he worked there, Andrew became an authority on hardening and heat treatment of metals. He and his wife family (sic) lived in Providence RI and vacationed at Osterville where he retired. |
