EXETER - Wallace Alvah Humphrey, 88, died Feb. 22, 2009, at a Bangor health care facility. He was born Feb. 26, 1920, in Clifton, a son of Bernard and Lenora (Carver) Humphrey. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Wallace was a former Grange member and maple syrup producer, and had retired from Eastland Woolen Mill, Corinna. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Myrtle (Crocker) Humphrey; a son, Alvah Humphrey; a daughter, Donna Humphrey, all of Exeter; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Steven, Hadley and Carl; and a sister, Helen. Graveside committal services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, May 16, at Corinthian Cemetery, Corinth, with the Rev. Stan Griffin officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 80 Elm St., Portland, ME 04101.
