True lived in Hartland, Maine for 16 years with a lady named Everdene Ashcroft. They both ended up in the same nursing home in Waterville, where True died on March 11, 1991.

True also married Florida Etta (Edith Mae) Batchelder in North Anson, Somerset, Maine on February 28, 1954 in Anson, Somerset, Maine.

 

He worked for the Quimbly Veneer Mill in Bingham, Maine in the 1950s. He was then employed by the Highway Department for the town of Fairfield, Maine in the 1960s. In the 1970s he worked in the Maintenance Department for the Pittsfield, Maine schools. True was a genuine handyman, displaying many skills in his many jobs during his lifetime.

True was a very quiet and unassuming man, keeping mostly to himself, as attested to by the fact that no one knew he had a family.
