Note
He was a blacksmith and in all deeds called a "gentleman". He was also a man of large influence and a benefactor to the church, donating to it a site for its location in 1724 on Abel's Hill. His will 1-31-1740 was proved 1-29-1743. It is noted that both husband and wife made their wills on the same day and d. within eight days of each other, both being over 70 yrs. of age. He was the son of William Bassett and Mary Rainsford, and the husband of Mary Huckins.
