He was a corporal in Capt. Keith's Co. of Col. John Daggett's regt. that left Easton Sunday, Dec. 28, 1776, to oppose the invasion of the British, who had captured Newport, R.I.; he was also in Capt. Isaac Hodges' co., Col. Francis' regt.

Captain Keith’s Company of Colonel John Daggett’s 4th Bristol County Regiment of the Massachusetts Militia

Served on the Easton Committee on Correspondence and Safety in 1775 and was a Representative in the Massachusetts Provincial Congress, known as the General Court, in 1775 and 1776
