BEVERLY ? Karl E. Berg, age 54 years, husband of Valerie Slaven-Pappas, died Sunday morning, July 6, 2008 at Beverly Hospital following a long illness. Born in Quincy son of the late Walter and Doris (Crocker) Berg, he was raised and educated in Weymouth and Woburn.
Karl was a great family man. He loved his family and was very proud of them. He had a great sense of humor. His greatest passion was fishing; it was his life. He loved yard sales. He was known for his great finds, repairing things that needed fixing and having his own yard sale with the items he found and repaired.
Surviving him in addition to his wife are five children, Kolten E. Berg of Woburn; Nicholas Pappas and his wife Crystal of Gloucester; Jessica Pappas of Beverly; Candice Taylor and her husband Paul and Heather DuPont all of New Hampshire; two sisters, Sharon Shannon of New York; Barbara Berg of Maine; three grandchildren, Iviana Ashlyn Mallard, Maya Murphy-Berg, Marcus Murphy-Berg, his former wife Kim (Canada) Berg, and several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Karl E. Berg Jr., and brother of the late Walter Berg.
A Memorial service will be held at the Campbell ? Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., Beverly (North Beverly Location) on Tuesday July 15, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
